We have been open this site five years before to promote early waking for kids. Early waking is good for biological clock. Engish version of our site can be seen at http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/. World Sleep Day :Chennai Activities March is the month for sleep. First Step to awareness was a one day symposium held on the 1st March at Madras Medical College (MMC) titled “A peep into Sleep” which had a morning session of basic sleep lectures and an afternoon session of workshop tilted “A peep into the sleep Lab” organized by Chennai Sleep Disorders Centre and Dept of Physiology MMC. This was well attended by clinicians, physiologists and technicians. A sleep awareness camp is being conducted on the 23rd March at Sleep Disorders Centre, Vijaya Health Centre, Chennai for the public. The purpose is to educate as well as detect any sleep related problems in those attending the camp. This forthcoming programme has been highlighted in the media- English and local with particular reference to World Sleep Day. The official website of Indian Sleep Disorders Association (www.isda.in) will also carry the English version and the Hindi translation of the official declaration of the World Sleep Day 2008. On this "First World Sleep Day" the declaration and call to action will be communicated to many who work in the field of sleep in New Zealand to be shared with colleagues, patients and the public, in the hope that by World Sleep Day 2009, New Zealand will have taken the opportunity to share the vision. The Indian Sleep Disorders Association will observe the first World Sleep Day on 14th March, 2008 by disseminating information to the public at large, the medical fraternity and to health administrators about the significance of sleep disorders and their impact on health and quality of life. The official website of Indian Sleep Disorders Association (www.isda.in) will also carry the English version and the Hindi translation of the official declaration of the World Sleep Day 2008. Information to this effect will also be published in the national daily newspapers. A link with WASM World Sleep Day site will be made with the ISDA website. The activates conducted by the members of ISDA, amongst their patient population, community and medical colleagues would also be posted in the website of ISDA. The International Sleep Medicine Society of Traditional and Modern Medicine (ISMSTM) and TCM Psychology Committee (TCMPC) network will participate in World Sleep Day. We will post a link on our website www.tcmit.org.cn, www.tcmpc.org.cn, www.itms.org.cn, and www.esleeping.com to support the events. The "First World Sleep Day" will be celebrated the 14 of March at 12:00 at the Academy of Roumania in Bucharest, in a joint meeting of Israel Sleep Medicine Association and Roumanian Academy. The President of the Academy Prof. Ionel Haiduc will open the ceremony, Prof. Irinel Popescu the President of the Academy of Man of Science will present the recent book of Prof. Jean Askenasy "The Enigmas of Sleep" dedicated to his mentors and colleagues who devoted their lives to sleep research: Prof. G. Marinescu, Prof. O.Sager, Prof. M. Steriade and Prof. L.Popovici. Their contribution to sleep research will be evoked by Prof. Jean Askenasy. This event is organized by the Israeli Sleep Medicine Society at the 60-th Independence Year of Israel and housed at the major scientific forum of Roumania "The Academy". www. Jeanaskenasy.com In Argentina, we will communicate to the press, to the community, and Health and Education authorities. On the website “Red en Medicina del Sueño” www.rems.com.ar, information will be posted in Spanish about sleep medicine. The website will also include a highlighted banner with information about the 1st World Sleep Day 2008 and will promote World Sleep Day 2009 (March 20, 2009). A Spanish translation of the 2008 Declaration will complete this banner. We will also communicate the declaration at our “Sleep Club” periodic meetings, where patients and people interested in sleep disorders receive information. The Dominican Republic will participate in WSD 2008. We have translated all the contents of the WSD webpage. Two mass mailings for general public and another for medical specialists are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 13 and 14, 2008. WSD-2008´s press release has been sent to 21 national and local radio and TV shows. Personal TV appearances have been solicited. A joint meeting with other societies related to sleep is to be held by the end of the week. Flyers are being printed for distribution in clinics and hospitals. In Peru, APEMES (Peruvian Association of Sleep medicine) has started to attract attention of media through some of their officers via radio and TV interviews and opening our web page (www.apemes.com) for opinions and consultations. Japan's Osaka Sleep Health Network will participate in World Sleep Day by posting a link on their website http://www.oshnet-jp.org/ and support the event. Italy will participate with different initiatives such as a media conferences, radio and TV spots, and newspaper ads. The official Italian Association of Sleep Medicine (AIMS) sleep centers (http://www.sonnomed.it/) will be open to the public and a chat line will be available for free with a direct connection between the public and sleep experts who will answer their questions.
